Broadview takes positive action to reduce its impact on the environment.
We have been working with co2balance.com to manage our greenhouse gas emissions and offset our carbon footprint, investing in projects that will balance out our carbon emissions, making us a CarbonZero company.
co2balance.com helps businesses to assess the size of their carbon footprints and then invests in projects around the world that save or absorb the emission of an equivalent amount of CO2. Through this process they balance out their unavoidable emissions and become CarbonZero.
BroadView has choosen to invest in a specific project called "Kenya East Africa Energy Efficiency". This project enables co2balance.com to provide low energy light bulbs to parts of East Africa. These bulbs typically use around 20% of the energy used by incandescent bulbs. Given the energy mix in the project areas (largely fossil fuel generators) this provides a large carbon saving. The recipients of the bulbs benefit from lower energy bills and the far greater life of low energy bulbs, avoiding the cost and waste of frequent replacements. Under this project it takes two bulbs four years to save one tonnes of CO2.
